Mowi, the world's largest salmon farmer by volume, is feeling bullish about its short and mid-term market prospects in 2022, as long-term supply constraints are pushing prices ever higher, CEO Ivan Vindheim said in an investor call accompanying the firm's fourth quarter report.
"We’re very optimistic about market prospects going forward," said the Mowi CEO. "The underlying demand has been there not only for years but for decades. Right now there is no supply growth, neither in Europe or the Americas, and the way we see it there’ll be limited supply growth in the coming year. So we’re optimistic in both the short term and the medium term."
According to joint research from Mowi and Kontali shared in the Q4 report, global salmon consumption in the fourth quarter increased by 2.6% worldwide, and by 8.6% across the full year [...]
