Salary £20,142 to £25,552 per annum

The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding, in a global company with a variety of fulfilling career opportunities. If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7, including nights, early and an on-call rota.

Anglesey is the largest fully marine Recirculating Aquaculture Systems in the UK and produces Ballan wrasse. This is a great opportunity for the correct person to work in a high-energy workplace, with a new RAS system and very driven and dedicated team.

About the job

 The farm technician role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best husbandry of our cleaner fish is undertaken. We need our technicians to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work as part of the hatchery team. The job includes, but it not limited to:

  • Maintaining the highest standards in fish husbandry and welfare
  • Live-feed production
  • Leading on feeding, control and inspection of fish
  • Inspection and maintenance of water recirculation equipment and facilities on the farm
  • Monitoring and maintaining good biosecurity procedures
  • Proactive approach to Health and safety practices throughout the hatchery
  • Maintaining good data records
  • Variety of general farm tasks to ensure efficient production.

Ideal candidate

 The ideal candidate will have experience in the aquaculture industry and be a quick learner. They will be willing to expand their understanding of recirculating aquaculture systems and good husbandry practices.

·        Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided

·        A degree in a biological science or equivalent will be an advantage, but not essential.

·        Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job and the shift patterns required.

·        A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

·        Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these.

·        Respect for the need for safe working practices.

·        Aquaculture experience of larval rearing and live feed production would be a distinct advantage

·        Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons.
