QA Regulatory Manager Position                                                                                                      

Job Summary:

Provides QA technical expertise for Tampa Maid Foods, LLC in the areas of food regulatory affairs, product labeling and claims development, government and customer audits, product recall issues, food defense, traceability, QA policy development, and QA communication to customers and consumers. Participates in long-term strategy and execution plans for company growth as the product regulatory expert, to assure all corporate and government standards are met as they pertain to food safety, quality, and legality.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical expertise to support Tampa Maid Foods’ business in all areas related to ingredients, labeling and claims, governmental and regulatory issues, including facility registration requirements.
  • Ensure that all ingredients, products and packaging comply with all federal and corporate regulations, policies and guidelines in both the US and Canada.
  • Ensure that packaging key lines and proofs are reviewed and approved prior to printing.
  • Develop, modify and maintain R&D/QA policies and procedures, as required.
  • Serve as technical liaison with legal services, consumer contact services, insurance companies, regulatory agencies and trade associations.
  • Serve on technical committees for one or more industry organizations.
  • Develop and maintain the product recall program, with responsibility to conduct annual mock recalls and traceability exercises.
  • Develop and maintain company’s Quality Policy and Procedures and Contingency Planning program.
  • Provide technical support to sales groups regarding QA documents such as continuing product guarantees, requests for letters of compliance, health certificates, NAFTA documents, and other such document support.
  • Lead company’s traceability audits, including but not limited to, MSC, BRC, BAP, NOAA, co-pack customers & RSPO (if necessary).
  • Keep management groups informed on developing food safety/regulatory issues through contact with appropriate regulatory agencies and industry organizations.
  • Assist and lead on all government regulatory interactions including FDA and State of Florida Department of Consumer Services visits, warning letters and/or inquiries.
  • Participate in programs related to GFSI/BRC/GFCO/FSMA compliance, with special emphasis on Internal Auditing.
  • Manage compliance with the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s Seafood Import Monitoring Program.
  • Manage Foreign Supplier Verification Program for vendors of Tampa Maid products and raw materials. 

Qualifications: 

  • BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Policy, Legal Studies, Biology, or other relevant field.  
  • Critical thinker who investigates issues thoroughly.
  • Ability to understand and articulate various points of view.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with lots of initiative and leadership skills.  
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to travel as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and outside agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of food regulations and the legal process.
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.
