The financial blow to the salmon industry dealt by coronavirus has prompted at least two producers to put assets up for sale. Grieg Seafood announced plans to sell its Scottish salmon farming division and Australia’s Huon Aquaculture will welcome bids from strategic investors. Other salmon farming assets may also be for sale, as some producers feel the pinch. We ask a panel of experts if salmon M&A will be buoyant in 2021, as markets start to recover from the full effects of the pandemic.
